CFC Project 2013 - Before Pictures

I'm an avid follower of the Clutter Free Classroom.  In June 2012, I learned I had a 3rd grade teaching position.  I immediately set off in search of classroom ideas.  I stumbled upon the Clutter Free Classroom Blogspot and have been a follower ever since.  Jodi is simply amazing!

Anyway, let's get back to the reasoning of this post.  One of my personal goes for 2013 is to become more organized both at work in school.  It's time I get some balance in my life.  Most school nights, I don't leave work until after 6:00.  I can count on my hand the amount of times I left work at the close of the day (4:00).  By the time 4:00 rolls around, I'm much too tired to run out of the school doors.  I take that time to sit down for about 20 minutes.  I just need to sit.  Then I proceed to straighten my classroom and prepare for the next day.  This cycle is repeated several times during the week.  As you can imagine, it can leave a person tired and worn out.  It's time to end this cycle!

I've decided to get more organized and join the 2013 Clutter-free Classroom Project!  Our first assignment is to take before pictures.  In yesterday's post I spoke about implementing math workshop into my class routine.  I have the perfect spot, only thing is, it's cluttered mess!  I'm ashamed to even post these pictures!  (smh)  This area doesn't always look like this, I promise!

I'm ecstatic to get help from Jodi and read posts from other teachers, who like myself, need help with organizing our classrooms.  So I'm going to focus on this area first.  I can't wait to see the end results!  Until next time!

Looking to get better organized, come and join the party!

  1. I'm curious to try Math Workshop at some point, too- but I bet it will take a lot of organization, so it's probably a great idea to take on this challenge! I'm joining up, too- can't wait to see how you do with it! Good luck!

  2. Your room looks as disorganized as mine!! (I joined the clutter party also!) And I just started math workshop about a month ago and it is working great for me. It does take a lot of preparation, but I really feel like it is worthwhile for the students.

I am your newest follower. Come on over and visit me!!

    1. Thanks Julie! I'm excited for both the math workshop and this challenge. I've heard great things about the math workshop and I'm willing to give it try. I think it would benefit both my kids and myself. BTW I joined your site and looking forward to seeing the final results. Good luck!

  3. Hi! Omg I feel your pain. I was so reluctant to post those pictures up that I actually had to take a minutes to think about it before pressing that publish button! I see your kidnet table is just like mines. At least you can see the actual table on yours! Becasue of the lack of space and furnutire in my classroom during small group everything moves to my desk and there goes the clutter back and forth.

Besides that, welcome to the blogging world! I am your newest follower ( #12) , hope you can pass by mine and disregards the mess lol!

    Happy teaching,

    1. Hi Vanessa! Thanks for stopping by! Yes, I do the shuffle dance around my kidney table. Lol! It's a mess, I was reluctant to add that picture but now I don't feel as bad. Seeing everyone else's pictures lets me know I'm not alone. Can't wait to see this week's project.
